Foucault once wrote (perhaps during a rare moment of clarity while tripping on acid) something about how prisons looked like schools, which looked like workplaces, which looked like prisons. He was probably right. The only reasonable solution to the problem of the Prison-Industrial Complex and the carceral state is a bulldozer. But since a bulldozer can only destroy, we also need to create something in its wake.

And, still, the long-term problem remains of the tiny carceral states we hold in our hearts and minds, lying dormant, awaiting the opportunity to manifest in our own lives and to be inflicted upon those around us. How do we bulldoze the impulse to hierarchy and domination?
